Despite a set of stringent measures trafficking of north eastern girls refuses to die down in Delhi.Delhi police have rescued two girls from Assam at a brothel in the national capital on Tuesday. Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that acting on a tip off police and a local non governmental organization conducted a raid at a house in the wee hours where the girls were rescued. Both the girls are believed to have hailed from Bongaigaon district who have been remaining untraced for the last couple of months. Delhi Police are in touch with their Assam counterpart to send back to Bongaigaon. Investigation is continuing.

Amid an escalating tension along the Assam-Nagaland border areas in Jorhat, Naga miscreants on Monday unleashed a fresh reign of terror atop Tiru hills on Monday. Naga miscreants set on fire as many as ten huts at the Tiru Hills reserve forest in Rongkham area inside the Assam territory on Monday evening. Siddique Ahmed is not keeping well forcing the Karimganj Central Jail authorities to rush the former minister to the Silchar Medical College Hospital on Sunday. The former minister who was remanded to judicial custody recently, complained of uneasiness on Sunday underwent a few test before he was rushed to SMCH in the morning. "His condition was deteriorating. But he is stable now. He is out of danger," doctors attending him at SMCH told Assam Times in Silchar.
