APCC dresses afresh!

Braving an unstoppable dissidence Assam Congress is gearing up for the assembly polls early next year. Party president Anjan Dutta who is camping in New Delhi for a series of meetings with the party high command is busy with dressing the party afresh. 

Over 20 sitting legislators are unlikely to get party ticket this time. According to sources these leaders, mostly, belong to the dissident group. Five of them who have been doing dissidence are likely to join BJP while 6 others would not get ticket citing age factor. Almost ten others will be dropped in the name of fresh blood. 

Dutta has got the high command’s seal of approval in his new executive body at the Rajiv Bhawan where the names of a circle of senior leaders are missing. 

“This is what we expected earlier. He has his own men who are getting good treatment. Even the names of a few potential leaders are missing,” said a senior Congress leader.

Government Extends AFSPA in Manipur Amidst Ethnic Clashes

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, to six police stations across five districts in Manipur.
