Guwahati: Breaking his silence over the alliance with Congress to beat BJP in 2021 assembly polls, AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal denied any ambition for the Chief Minister’s job.
Talking to a vernacular daily, Ajmal said that he has little hurdle to become Chief Minister but in the same breath he said that they have not formed the party to become CM. He made the statement at a time when BJP and its allies have been circulating the speculations of Ajmal’s aim to take rein of the state.

Guwahati: A lower court in Guwahati on Wednesday asked Kolkata based intellectual Garga Chatterjee to surrender before it by August 27.
The court has issued the order after the court was apprised that Chatterjee who made defamatory remarks against first Ahom king Chaulung Sukafa.

Guwahati: In a landmark act that rattles both Delhi and Dispur, the All Assam Students Union has put the Clause VI panel report in public domain which the Centre has not received yet.
Apart from ILP provision, the report strongly suggested a slew of measures to ensure constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people of Assam.
