Dhansiri awards

Saptahik Dhansiri, a weekly published from Golaghat, celebrated its 35th foundation day on April 12. To mark the occasion,  a seminar on "Women Journalists and Women Empowerment" was held at the Municipal Auditorium. Teresa Rehman, editor of the online magazine Thumb Prints, Dr Madhurima Goswami from Chandraprabha Saikiani Women Studies Centre (Tezpur University) and Dr Mouchumi Mahanta were the the appointed speakers of the seminar conducted by Sobha Borkotoky Sarma. Jahnabi Khound, asst. editor, Asomiya Pratidin, Prafulla Pran Mahanta, former editor of Saptahik Dhansiri and noted conservationist Jibon Chandra Das were the guests on the occasion.

The Dhansiri Trust also instituted a few awards to honour the women journalists of the state and gave away the Syed Abdul Malik award to Rina Kotoky. Noted environment journalist Mubina Akhtar has been honoured with the Dhansiri Upatyaka Award while  Kuntalika Barua was awarded with Dr. Hem Bora Memorial Award. Bobita Bora, Mina Nagri and Preeti Parik were also honoured by the Trust.

Yoga observed in Golaghat

The 3rd International Day of Yoga was observed in Golaghat  on Wednesday  with a slew of programmes organized by the district administration in association with Patanjali Yoga Samiti. Aid for Rangoliting fire-hit

Rescue training in Golaghat

A two-day training on Search and Rescue for volunteers was organized on February 17 and 18 by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Golaghat in association with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and National Disaster Response Force at District Library auditorium. Bhogali Utsav at Golaghat

Deplorable condition of Golaghat PWD Quaters

Nambor Festival at Golaghat

The Nambor Wildlife Conservation Society of Golaghat is going to organize Nambor Festival on March 1 to 10, 2013, the main aim to organize this festival to promote tourism, eco-tourism and conservation of wildlife and forestry in the Nambor reserve forest area. The 10 days long festival will also showcase ethnic food, craft mela, SHG mela and colorful function of folk dance.
