The Sivasagar forest department has released five Himalayan griffons back into their habitats nearly a month after these were found in a comatose state.
Aided by the Environmental organisation IFAW-WTI the forest department officials released the griffons in Konwarpur area in the outskirt of town on Thursday evening.
“We found in a comatose state last month to be taken to IFAW-WTI-run Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC). They are now quite well. We released them on Thursday with the help of the forest officials,” CWRC officials told Assam Times on Friday.
