Annada Gohain expires

Annada Gohain, a resident of Kharghuli, breathed her last on 19th September 2011 at a private hospital in Guwahati at the age of 81 years. She retired as Additional Director (Agriculture) under Assam Government in 1987.


In 1948, she graduated with Chemistry Honours from Cotton College. In 1955, she went to Australia for a special two year Food Technology course conducted by the University of New South Wales under the Colombo Plan. After successfully completing the course, she stayed on till 1959 for research work leading to the award of her M.Sc. degree. Annada Gohain was the daughter of eminent educationist Mahendra Nath Gohain of Nizarapar, Guwahati. Her husband Jitendra Nath Gohain predeceased her.


She is survived by two sons.

Tiger Carcass Found in Kaziranga National Park

The body of a tiger was discovered in the Horonbali Chapori area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, located in Assam’s Biswanath district, on Monday. Government Extends AFSPA in Manipur Amidst Ethnic Clashes
