Protested Swami in Kokrajhar

Protest wave continued in Assam against BJP leader and Member of Parliament Dr Subramaniam Swami’s remarks on mixed of religion and politics while visiting to the state that Kokrajhar district committee of All Assam Minority Students Union(AAMSU) and All BTC Minority Students Union(ABMSU) protested and burnt effigy of Dr Swami.

Hundreds of AAMSU and ABMSU activists and publics with banner,placards took out a rally and hit the street shouting slogans on Sunday at Fakiragram along the Bilasipara-Serfanguri and Bhotgaon along JD Road in protest against remarks of Swami and later burnt effigy of Swami and demanded banning of BJP leader Swami’s step to Assam who allegedly has been trying to create communal clash in the state in the name of politics.

Rafikul Islam,AAMSU leader strongly reacted Swami’s remarks on religion as India represents secular in its status.He said that BJP leader Swami was trying to create to communal resented in the state,for which why he is making irrelevant remarks. He said that they(AAMSU) would not allow Swami to make any communal comments. The AAMSU  further asked the government not to allow the BJP leader to visit the state and his stepping to Assam should be banned.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
