Dissidence brewing in all major parties

Dissidence brews in all major parties including ruling congress and BJP across the state with the declaration of the date of ensuing Local Bodies’ elections. The municipalities and town committees’ elections will be held on February 9 next. Amidst the poll preparationsall the political party faces dissidence and in-fighting. Meanwhile, a countable number of congress and BJP leaders along with their supporters resigned from their respective party portfolios. Subsequently, they quit their parties too expressing displeasure over the selection process of candidates by their party leadership. 

The state president of the BJP’s Tea Women Cell, BinaBhumijquit the party a few days ago resenting against party leadership. Similarly, more than three hundred BJP workers of Gauripur quit the party Thursday. Likewise, Congress also faces similar dissidence. A large number of Congress workers quit the party from Sadiya to Dhubri in last few days. The dissidents who quit their parties revealed that their party leaderships selected the ensuing party candidates whimsically ignoring their suggestions in the party candidates’ selection process. Moreover, some have alleged that a good number of candidates acquired parties’ ticket for contesting the Local Body’s elections by means of money power. The leadership across the party, allegedly, took money for issuing tickets to the candidates. 

The BJP is making corruption of the Tarun Gogoi government and misappropriations of huge fund granted by the Central government under various schemes for the upliftment of the economically backward people of the statean issue of the up-coming Local Bodies’ elections.

Congress, on the other hand, utters developments occurred in the state during their rule as an issue of the ensuing elections. Interestingly, the Chief Minister Gogoi pledged to allocate more money under various schemes to municipalities and town committees if people’ mandate goes for congress.
