BTC session

A one-day Session of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) was held on Wednesday at BTC Legislative Assembly, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The session which began at 10 am concluded within about 25 minutes of discussion. Chaired by the speaker Paniram Brahma, the session started with questions hour.

BTC executive member for handloom and textile department Banamali Boro, giving reply to the question of   Kartick Chandra Boro, said that the supply of yarn made during 2012-13 & 2013-14 were received in proper requisite condition and disbursed the same to each Council member of Udalguri district. He said during disbursement no complaint were established and till now no further complaint from the beneficiaries has been lodged to the concern department. He said that his department was working for the enhancement of handloom and textile in the council.

Derhasat Basumatary, executive member for education department while relying to a question by council member Prodeep Kumar Daimary said that the BTC administration has not framed its own rule to give appointment of Santhali and Nepali language teachers in Higher Secondary schools in the council. The council running the concern status under the act and rules framed by the government of state government which is being adopted and enforced, he added.

Basumatary also said that council is communicating to establish a government college at Mushalpur with state government and expected government college will be established in near future.

Deben Boro, executive member for PHE department informed the house that there are 237 PHE projects under taken in Udalguri district, of which 153 projects come out successfully, besides 23 are distributing waters among publics and remaining 61 projects are on progress.

Mitharam Basumatary, executive member for Agriculture department said that council has decided to distribute 63 Power Tiller among beneficiaries under 2014-15 sessions for the benefit of the farmers.

The winter session is the last session of the present Hagrama Mohilary led BPF government in the BTC as the election to the 40 member BTC election is expected to be held in end March next.

Several members including BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary,MCLA Rabiram Narzary were not present on the session.

Speaker Paniram Brahma thanked all members of the council including the Council Chief, Deputy Chief, executive members, MCLAs for extending kind co-operation in conducting the session on smooth manner in the last five years in his chair and hoped that integration of council will highlight in future.

The session also observed a one minute silence over demise of noted sculptor Haribhusan Brahma of Gossaigaon and prayed for his eternal peace.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Fakiragram bazar turn into ashes

Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. Businessman attacked

A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. He was identified as Tamizaddin Anza ri (32) of Mozabari area. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital and stated to be critical. Details is awaited. 

Vehicular thief arrested

Salakati police in Kokrajhar district arrested a vehicular thief late last night at Salakati rail track.  He was identified as Naba Das of Belsar in Nalbari district, who was involved with stealing of a four wheeler Mahindra pick up van bearing registration AS-16C-2207. An FIR was registered no.138/16 with Salakati police outpost in this connection, under section (u/s) 457/380/411 IPC. 

KLO ultra held

In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. Mock drill in Kokrajhar

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel. The mock drill started with hooting of the emergency siren where all official and IOCL employees were seen rushing to the spot and they combated the fire. Cracks appeared in the Religious Minority Council(RMC),BTC region over the issue of supporting to the Bodoland Peoples Front(BPF) party in the ensuing Assam assembly election.The rift appeared in the council after president Sohrab Khan announced openly that RMC leaves to support the BPF party in the election.
