North East Bikers, a group of bikers who have travelled the longest distances throughout India, set out on its latest expedition to Rajasthan’s desert city Jaisalmer on Thursday. The group of six bikers, which set out from Nehru Stadium on Tursday , will reach its destination Jaisalmer on the eighth day. This expedition of 2700 km has been initiated with the aid and sponsorship of various individuals and organizations.
The expedition has been initiated with the mission to promote the vision - Clean India and Green Assam. Led by senior journalist Hemanta Kumar Sharma, the team comprises of Dhiraj Dutta, Deepu Deka, Suranjit Phukan, Ankur Borthakur and Pranjal Sharma. Till date, North East Bikers has successfully completed the Ladakh Himalaya, Nepal Himalaya, Indo Bhutan, Indo Myanmar and Guwahati-Kanyakumari biking expeditions. The Guwahati-Jaisalmer trip will be the sixth addition to their list of achievements.
During this expedition, the group will travel from Guwahati to Jaisalmer via Siliguri, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Jaipur, Bikaner, Pokhran travelling through the Thar Desert to the India-Pakistan Border carrying with them their message of a Clean India and Green Assam. North East Bikers has sworn to reach their desired destination in a complete non-political manner through Press Meets, Road Shows, Booklet Distribution, and Extempore Meetings in School Grounds.
