The All Assam Students' Union activists have ended the 12 hour long hunger strike in Guwahati demanding immediate steps to implement the Assam Accord in letter and spirit.
The AASU activists ended the hunger strike as soon as chief minister Tarun Gogoi hoisted the national tricolor at the Veterinary Playgorund in Guwahati.
AASU leaders told Assam Times that the government has yet to fulfill the promises made by it in the historic Accord 29 years ago.
“That’s why, we want a time-bound action-plan from the government regarding the implementation of the clauses of the Assam Accord,” they said
