BSU honours toppers

The Bodoland Students Union (BSU) felicitated the first divion holder students including rank holders in HSLC examination conducted by SEBA/CBSE at a function held Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar today.

A total 494 students was warm welcomed and felicitated with traditional Aronai and a citation,which was organised by Kokrajhar district unit of the students union.

Nitin Khade,Kokrajhar deputy commissioner,BTc executive members Derhasat Basumatary,Mono Kumar Brahma,Jagadish Chandra Brahma,I S Kokrajhar,BTC member,Swgwmsar Basumatary, president BSU, Donswar Goyary graced the function and gave away the citations.

Khade said the students community should comefoward for uplifting the society so that cociety can get healthy situations.He has urged the students to dedicate their ambition to take higher studies and step to be good personality.

Lecture Programme in Bodoland University

A lecture programme was organized by department of English, Bodoland University, Kokrajhar on February 4. Renowned poet, essayist and Tibetan activist, Tenzin Tsundue spoke on the topic of  “The Poetics of Exile Writing”, who was born, brought to a Tibetan Refugee family and educated in India. Teachers stages sit-in-demonstration

Pramod Chandra Brahma literary award for Dr Kameswar Brahma

Padmashri (Dr) Kameswar Brahma, president of  Bodo Sahitya Sabha(BSS) has been named for the Pramod Chandra Brahma Literary Award, 2016 instituted by BTC education department. Brahma has been named for the award for his relentless contribution towards development of literary in his life long. Brahma born at Bhumka village under Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district has authored many books and research works on Bodo and tribal cultures. Security forces of  army and police apprehended a self styled section commander  and hardcore  leader of the NDFB-S from Gorebil under Bishmuri  police out post in Kokrajhar district today. A six day varsity week of Bodoland University, which has kicked off from Thursday in the presence of student, departmental heads and officials at university complex in Kokrajhar. Prof.  Hemanta Kumar Baruah, Vice-Chancellore of Bodoland University inaugurated the annual varsity week. BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced the week as chief guest on the inaugural session. Two jehadis arrested

Police apprehended two Muslim Fundamentalist cadres from Gossaigaon and Guwahati in two separate search operations on Monday night.  According to BTAD (IGP) LR Bishnoi, Chirang, Kokrajhar and City police jointly conducted search operation against Muslim fundamentalist and able to arrest two cadres from Gossaigaon of Kokrajhar district and Guwahati.  They were identified as Jahidul Islam of Tulsibil and Pota Miyan of Tulsibil of Kokrajhar district.  A factory made pistol, two round bullets were recovered from them.   

Junior Archery championship concluded

Kokrajhar district team spotted first with won 9 gold medals in the  All Assam Inter District Junior Archery Championship,2015,concluded  today after two-day programme scheduled at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar. Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina

Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina with winning in the Bodoland Fashion Hunt Miss Haina, 2016. This is the first ever in Bodoland as well Lower Assam region, has been organized by Nexus Entertainment at Bodofa Cultural complex on Sunday in Kokrajhar. She was awarded cash Rs. 25,000 along with crown and citation. Sikha Dutta Brahma and Priyangka Basumatary were adjusted first runners up and second runners up and awarded cash Rs. 20,000 and Rs.15,000 respectively.
