Dr MMS is the MP from Assam and he should take the moral responsibilty for the violence. The UPA and state government who had been ruling for the last 10 years must be blamed for such butchery. But Congress sees only shadow of Modi on anything. The Congress leaders leaders who used to revel in the luxury and comforts in Delhi offices were always apathetic towards the violence in Kashmir and Punjab during the 1970's and 1980's. The secular leaders were more philosohical and much less practical in understanding the problems of people in all parts of the country. There was similar violence in 2012 in NE. Then the government should have take precautionary measures to avert the occurance of similar incidents. When there is NO capable ruler or leader at the centre, the state governments will also follow the anarchy. "Yatha Raja Thatha Praja" means "AS THE RULER SO THE RULED". If the king of the country is of good character, with good heart and always thinking of well-being of his subjects, and if he is a spiritual thinker and peaceful minded, his subjects will be like him in all these ways too

Sankaradeva Nethralaya in association with Guwahati Press Club has organized an eye check-up camp for scribes and their families on 4th March (Wednesday) 2015. Th e day long camp will start at 10 am and may continue till 3 pm. The participants can get the consultations from the doctors regarding the eye care and precautions to preserve the eye sight. Dr Harsha Bhattacharjee, medical director & trustee of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya is also expected to grace the general screening of eyes in the press club premises.
Huge amount of explosives were recovered from the busy Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Guwahati today.Three bags containing the explosives that included gelatin sticks, bar coils etc were found in a waiting room of the terminus during a regular check by the police. Police has taken into custody two persons for interrogation.
Acting on a tip off, ChildLine with the help of CID rescued 22 children bound for a Himachal from the Guwahati Railway station today. The children in the age group of 4 to12 were brought from various districts of Assam, Manipur and Tripura were gathered at the Guwahati platform before their final send off to a monastery in Himachal, said a ChildLine official. Two persons were held in this connection.
Alert was sounded in Assam over the dreaded swine flu after a student of the Fakhruddin Ahmed Barpeta Medical College was detected with the H1N1 virus today. The student is currently undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Guwahati and will be shifted to the Guwahati Medical college Hospital tomorrow. This is the first case detected so far in Assam but there could be more, revealed a health department source.
The death of eminent educationist, social scientist, renowned geographer and author Mohammad Taher has been widely condoled across the state. Professor Taher breathed his last in a private hospital in Guwahati yesterday morning after a prolonged illness. He was 83. After obtaining his PhD degree from the Auckland University, Newzealand he joined the Gauhati University as a teacher. Described as a doyen of Indian Geography,Mohammad Taher retired from the Geography Department of the Gauhati University as Head and Dean of Faculty of Science in the 1990s. He authored more than 20 text books for geography students besides books on other subjects.
Dr Syed Iftikar Ahmed, chairman of Guwahati based NGO ‘AIDS Prevention Society’ and a member of Lions Club of Narangi (District 322D) has been invited to attend the Lions Day program at United Nations’ headquarter in New York. Tension prevails in the Assam-Nagaland border today after Naga miscreants opened indiscriminate firing upon villagers forcing them to flee their homes Seleng Amtolia in Mariani near here. A 12-member suspected NSCN militant group also burned down a small tea garden in the area. Police and district administration officials rushed to the spot after the incident.
Sensation prevails in the Gauhati University campus after a student was found hanging at his rented house at Sunderbari, near the GU campus early today. Arnabjyoti Talukdar was a student of B Tech 4th semester.
Ashraful Hussain Laskar, a student from Hailakandi in Assam was found dead in the Madhuwala police station area in Bangaluru. Ashraful died after he fell from a building. Police has been investigating any foul play in the incident.
