Journalist attacked

Dhananjoy Nath

Journalist Dhananjoy Nath, staff reporter of Dainik Janasadaran and Secretary of Kokrajhar Press Club  was attacked by the unidentified miscreant on Thursday evening around 7.15 pm. when he was on his way from Kokrajhar Tiniali to Bhutiyapara, his home. Nath said that two motorcycles borne miscreants tried  to kidnap him showing a pistol. When he confronted the miscreant attacked his head with heavy lathi and run away.

Later Nath was rushed to MRM Hospital Kokrajhar. The Kokrajhar  Police rushed to the incident and launched a search operation to nab the miscreant. 

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary, former MP UG Brahma strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict action. The Kokrajhar press club, ABSU, AASU and several organizations strongly condemned the incident.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district.
