Price of religious conversion
Miscreants torched and vandalized houses of five families allegedly conversion of religion at Daloabari village in Kokrajhar district late last night.
Affected families said that around 10 persons armed with sharp weapons vandalized the houses and gutted down of four houses of the two families and warned of the dire consequences as they recently converted religion.
The miscreants torched the houses of Reven Basumatary and Binoy Brahma while the houses of Tani Brahma, Raja Brahma and Sarsing Brahma were vandalized and miscreants also looted property and domestic animals, they alleged.
An FIR has been lodged with Kokrajhar police station against incident.
Police said that strict measures have been taken to prevent unwanted incident in the area and a person was arrested in connection with the incident.
Various organizations including All Bodo Students Union, Bodoland Students Union (BSU), social organizations condemned the incident and appealed for peace and harmony. The ABSU has urged the people to respect each other’s religion and maintain peace and harmony for the welfare of human society.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday. Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return.
