Baby Elephant beaten unto death in Morigaon

A three year old baby elephant was brutally killed by a group of senseless mob near Jagiroad in Morigaon district on October 26 . According to the eyewitness, the calf with severe injury missed the herd and was loitering alone with a painful body in the swampy area of a village. Seeing the calf at such a condition, the group of villagers soon attacked the calf with sharp weapons like knife, axe bamboo etc. sticks and beaten it unto death. Experiencing such kind of strange behaviour and to safe its life the elephant calf tried to run away to safer places but the senseless and brutal mob of the village chased it and at last killed the innocent animal for no reason.

It might be mentioned here that the man and elephant conflicts gradually increasing in Assam following large encroachment forest areas forcing the elephant to leave their habitat in search of food and sometimes destroy not only the paddy fields but also houses in the villages. This sometimes prompts the villagers to attack the elephants for their safety as well as protection of the paddy fields. But the injured 3 year old baby elephant calf was not at all involved in such activities.

I am sick after seeing this senseless murder of an innocent baby elephant by the goons of assam. These villagers who are murderers and have blood on their hands dont deserve any sympathy. The entire state of Assam, entire country of India is ashamed at such a cowardly act, which required about 100 strong mob of lunatic villagers to beat the harmless baby to death. They perhaps must be feeling like heroes, but i think they should all be burnt alive.

There is an armed guard watching. What a shocking scene! This is a sad reflection of Assam's society. Where are the condemnations? A baby elephant beaten to death... no words can describe such a heinous crime.

Before commenting on this news item, look at the picture or photo carefully. All the men are in Bangladeshi lungis. The people attacking the baby elephant are illegal migrants from Bangladesh who have sneaked into Assam. They are not Assamese. Bangladeshis are not nature lovers nor they have any sense of regard for nature and wildlife animals. They lack aesthetic sense and donot appreciate animals, flowers or plants and forests. They donot know to live with nature peacefully. Bangladeshis are only baby manufacturing rabbits who increase their population wherever they go and disturb and kill all.
