Arrear talks on Feb 18

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has agreed to talk to the state government employees to break the deadlock over their arrear amounts.

Sources told Assam Times that Gogoi has invited the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad for talks on February 19.

With this assurance, the employees union has called off the agitation. But they made it clear that if the talks fail to end the impasse, they would have no option but to resume the strike.

The employees union has been demanding arrear for 33 months. But the chief minister initially was not interested in disbursing the arrears citing poor financial health.
