Assam celebrated Silpi Divas across the state to commemorate the death anniversary of Jyotiprasad Agarwalla on Friday. Cultural functions, Jyoti Sangeet competitions and seminars were organized in many places to mark the occasion. The central function at took place in Tezpur, the birthplace of the first Assamese film maker.

Despite round-the-click vigil, the poachers in Kaziranga struck again for horn in the national park. Forest guards the famed abode of one horn rhinos found a carcass of the one horn animal in the Agoratoli range on Saturday. The animal was believed to gave been killed two or three years back and took away the horn. This the third rhino poaching case in the world heritage site this year.
