Foundation stone of road after Amarjyoti Arandhara

Dillibari Gaon Panchayat, under Tingkhong development block has laid the foundation stone of gravel road in the Amarjyoti Arandhara, the secretary general of Tai Ahom National Council on Monday at Ghahi Pathar, under MNREGA scheme. The total length of the road will be 6.5 kilometer and it will cost about 4 lakh. In this occasion, the President of the Gaon Panchayat, Dipti Koch, the Prasanta Nayak, the member of Dillibari Anchalik Panchayat, and other officials of Tingkhang Development Block Present.

Scholar of Tai language, historian, litterateur and literary pensioner of Chetia Gaon of Lakhimpur town, Aijep Phukan died due to cardiac arrest at Dispur Nursing home on January 21 at an age of 75 years. He was born at Jalukkota-Narayanpur of Lakhimpur in 1943. In separate road accidents on Friday, 2 persons died on spot and 3 were seriously injured. One was at Suffry, Sonari where a Maruti 800 of Ghana Gogoi of ONGC was hit by a TATA Sumo (without number plate) from back. As a result the Maruti car was badly damaged and Handique badly injured. Though Gogoi was admitted to the Charaidew Sub-Division Civil Hospital at Rojabari could not be saved. The Tata Sumo was hired by Army personals, who are in civil dress and fled from the spot after the accident. The other accident was at Hatighuli of Gaurisagar on National highway 37. A blue colour Indica going towards Jorhat made head on collision with a rice carrying truck going towards Sivasagar....
Social worker, ardent follower of satriya culture and astrologer, Prasanna Mahanta of Sr iSri Na-Mati Katonipar Satra, Nangalamora passes away at Assam medical college, Dibrugarh on January 17 at an age of 53. Due to a sudden stroke, Mahanta became unconscious during a pal-nam of this Satra organised for Bhogali Bihu. He was shifted to Assam Medical college, Dibrugarh. The sudden demise of Mahanta creates sorrow among his family and friends. He was also an employee of irrigation department. Late Mahanta left behind his married daughter, a son and his wife.
