Documentary Film Screening and Inauguration of “Films For Change”
Josh Tickell's award winning documentary Fuel will be screened at Guwahati Press Club on December 29 (Sunday, 11 am) at the inaugural function of “Films for Change” – a community film screenings project.
Fuel’s Director Josh Tickell takes us along for his journey around the world to find solutions to America's addiction to oil. Fuel shows us the way out of the mess we're in by explaining how to replace every drop of oil we now use, while creating green jobs and keeping our money here at home. The film never dwells on the negative, but instead shows us the easy solutions already within our reach.
The screening is part of a Community Film Screenings project by Assam Times and Television Trust for the Environment (tve). The project would focus on environmental awareness activities to bridge the information gaps and localize the contexts of environment protection & climate change action. To sensitize and prepare for local action, the project would primarily target the youth in the Northeast.
Films for Change is being supported by Nokia.

The city based voluntary organization Save Guwahati Bulid Guwahati (SGBG) condoled on the death of former congress MP Santosh Mohan Deb. Professor Srinath Barooah, founder vice-chancellor of Krisnakanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), has denied allegations of financial and other irregularities, leveled against him by his former colleagues. In the wake of growing demands, especially from a group of conscious citizens, the chief minister’s Vigilance and Anti-corruption Cell arrested five persons including two then Additional Deputy Commissioners for their alleged involvement with a multi crore rupees scam taken place in Jorhat during 2013-15. In a horrifying development, a poor flood-affected and differently able farmer of Bordowatop locality in Marigaon district committed suicide on Sunday. The farmer, identified as Kamal Nath, reportedly hanged himself in a temporary camp set-up for flood-affected people of the locality.
