Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Police took several hours to bring the situation under control. The real extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.

The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has announced that party General Secretary Aminul Islam would be its candidate for the second seat in the forthcoming Rajya Sabha polls in Assam. Guwahati police have arrested a Maoist activist in the city on Saturday. Known as Prasanna Rabha, the youth was picked up from Udalbarka during a combing operation in the area four days after his sister was arrested. Police claimed him to be close associate of central committee member Aklanta Rabha who was arrested last month.
