Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is dead. He passed away in the evening at Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of post COVID complications. His condition deteriorated on Saturday as his organs did not properly respond to the line of treatment.
Guwahati: State  Congress has filed a formal complaint against senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accusing him of trying to ignite communal clash by using a controversial video clip in social media.  A delegation of the party lodged the complaint at the Bhangagarh police station demanding action against Sarma as. Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court has asked the  state election authorities to hold the BTC polls by November 20. Hearing a PIL, a bench of the court has issued instruction to the authorities to hold it by November 20. Notably,  then polls were scheduled for April 4 following the end of the term of Hagrama Mohilary and his fellows. But it was suspended following the COVID19 endemic. Despite repeated appeals,  the authorities did not take any decision forcing BPF to move the court.

Guwahati: Mixed reactions are pouring in from different quarters after the Mumbai police arrested Republic TV editor in chief Arnab Goswami in connection with a 2 year old case. Guwahati: Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is stable.  According to Guwahati Medical College Hospital authorities, the former CM who was rushed to ICU on Sunday midnight is properly responding to treatment.  Noninvasive ventilation system has been removed from him.  According to GMCH principal Gogoi is doing physiotherapy in the hospital and a team of doctors has been monitoring him.  His son and Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi has arrived in the city of Guwahati and visited his father.  He told media that his father's condition was improving.
