A meeting of Block Level Officer’s (BLO) was called by K.Tikhak, EAC cum ERO Hq at the DEO’ Conference Hall, Khonsa in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on July 2 with  regard to the Election Commission of India’s instruction on improvement of electoral rolls. Almost all the appointed BLO’s attended the meeting. K.Tikhak ERO Hq said that BLO’s being the grass root level workers in context to  preparation of electoral rolls has an important role to play and the success in preparation of 100% error free and quality electoral rolls mainly depend on them. They being the elector and ordinary resident of the area allotted, they are well acquainted with the people so their little effort will pave the way for preparation of a good electoral roll. He also asked some of the BLO’s to explain why the poll % as indicated by the Election Commission was low in their respective polling stations? The BLO’s were asked to identify the absent voters, the migrated voters and the dead voters, so that their names could be deleted in the ensuing revision process for an error free electoral roll. He also laid special emphasis on identification of the voters of 18-19 years group for inclusion in the electoral roll. The BLO’s were asked to submit the weekly report in the format provided  to them as the same has to be compiled and send to the Chief Election Officer, Itanagar as desired by the Election commission. Regarding the updating of BLO register, the ERO Informed that the BLO’s register will be issued as and when received from the CEO office, Itanagar and instructed that it should be updated immediately with the data’s as sought.
