Mahur still in tense

A sense of tense is still running high at Mahur for 3rd day following the killing of  businessman Sudha Roy on May 29 by some unidentified miscreants at around 8:30 PM and the business community in particular and the people of Mahur in general have been protesting the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and adequate security to the people of Mahur.

Right from May 30, the business community of Mahur kept their business establishment closed and on Saturday the people of Mahur staged Dharna in protest against the of Late Sudha Roy a businessman on 29th of May 2013 by some unidentified miscreants in front the Mahur Police Station.

Later they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao District detailing their demands through the Additional Deputy Commissioner, who was there to take the stock of the situation.

The memorandum signed by the people of Mahur stated that the people of Mahur area frequently faced unwanted incidents due to the ineffective and inactive duty rendered by the local security personnel which resulted in the brutal killing of Late Sudha Roy a businessman on 29th of May 2013 by some unidentified miscreants at around 8:30 PM . All this unpleasant happenings were going on unabatedly at Mahur Bazar, taking the advantages of security lapses in the market place particularly. They therefore demanded immediate booking of the culprit and legal punishment.

The diseased Sudha Roy was the only bread earner of the family through his Tea Stall. As so now the family of the same was left to the mercy of God for their livelihood. They demanded to the authority concern for taking necessary action to grant an adequate compensation and to appoint any member from this victim family to any government job through which this family could run their livelihood normally .

Further, the security system has shown  complete failure in providing effective security to the locality which had compelled us not to rely on same anymore.

They  therefore demanded all the staff of Mahur Police Station be replaced with immediate effect and a reliable administrative staff be entrusted at Mahur Police Station and they also  demand immediate set up of an outpost within the market. They also reminded that until and unless aforesaid points of demands were not fulfilled,  the Mahurians decided to keep the entire business establishment remain closed.
