Expressing a strong discontent and great concern over the way the Government treated Dima Hasao district on socio-economic development and other on other spheres, the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) Dima Hasao District Committee flayed the Central Government and Assam Government for their blind eye to the acute financial problems in the departments in Dima Hasao district, stated a press release issued by Sri rathindra Thaosen, President, ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee on Monday.
Taking the advantage of the fact that there has been a much-hyped Rs 1000 Crore Dima Hasao Scam and the C.B.I. probe being conducted in Dima Hasao district along with some reports of misuse of funds in the departments, the Government seems to have resorted to systematically carving the amount from the provision of funds of the departments in Dima Hasao district, such as the case in DRDA department in which the funds has been drastically carved without taking into account the economic plight of the common people of Dima Hasao district. In fact, instead of providing the adequate amount of funds and at the same time taking appropriate steps so as to ensure that the funds provided could not be misused by the officials, politicians and contractors alike, if the Government really doubts the sincerity of them in implementing schemes, the Government on the contrary seems to have drastically carved the provision of funds of different departments in Dima Hasao district on one pretext or other. What ever the matter that the C.B.I. probe is being conducted in Dima Hasaodistrict, let the law of that government agency take its own course and the Government, in the grounds of that probe, has no moral right to carve the amount of funds meant for development and for the economically poor people of Dima Hasao district.
