The district level Aryabhatta science based competition organized by Udalguri district administration concluded on March 19 at Sankardeb Mission High School with day long programme. Mihir Kumar Baruah ADC,Udalguri inaugurated the competition at 11 AM. On the occasion he requested teachers and students to come forward to avail various science programmes launched by government.Sixty numbers of child scientists from six blocks namely- Kalaigaon, Khoirabari, Bhergaon, Udalguri, Rowta, Mazbat participated in the district level science competition. It needs mention that block level science based model, science based extempore speech and science based poster drawing competitions were organised in all the six blocks prior to the district level competition. And students who had won first three places in each category were only allowed to participate in the district level competitions.

Thaneswar Malakar,DC,Udalguri attended the prize distribution at 2 PM as the chief guest. On the occasion he congratulated participants and winners. He requested them to take interest in science activities.He said that such science based competitions could very much help to bring out inner creativity of students. He advised students and teachers to use scientific experiments for the benefit of common people living in the villages. Results: In the science model competition- Rodali Das and Diksha Devi (Arunodoi Academy,Tangla) won first, Meenakshi Dutta and Dibyarupa Rabha (Maharishi Vidya Mandir,Tangla) second prizes; in science based extempore spech competition- Deepanand Basumatari (Arunodoi Academy,Tangla) won first,Pankaj Sarmah (Orang HS School) won second prises while Prastuti Parashar (Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School,Kalaigaon) and Kalyani Rabha (Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Tangla) won first two places. All the winners will represent Udalguri district in the All Assam Aryabhatta science competitions to be held at Silpagram,Guwahati on April 3 and 4.The state level meet will be organised by Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) Guwahati.

Mousumi Baruah of National Pioneer Junior College,Tangla has brought glory to Udalguri district securing 8th rank in the HS (Arts) examination by scoring 471 marks. Baby wild tusker succums to injury in Udalguri

A badly injured six years old wild tusker has succumbed to death yesterday evening on May 23 after battling for life since May 18 at Ganeshghat village in Udalguri district.The injured wild tusker had been very weak while entering the remote village near Majuli tea garden with other two wild elephants on May 18.Villagers could see several injury marks on its body and blood was seen oozing out from a deep injury on its fore head.Unable to cross a small stream, the tusker fell to the bottom of the streamlet. Patrolling teams of Mazbat forest Range Office, under Dhansiri Forest Division, Udalguri and Army stationed at Mazbat successfully rescued an endangered pair of baby Himalayan bear calves recently near Assam-Arunachal border. Udalguri ready for counting of votes

Udalguri District Election Office has been ready for counting of votes on May 19 for three assembly constituencies namely-64 Paneri,69 Udalguri (ST) and 70 Mazbat.Talking to media ND Pathak,District Election Officer,Udalguri said that there would be 12 rounds of counting of votes on 14 tables in each three LACs. Udalguri players won gold for India

People of Udalguri have much to rejoice with the good news of winning 4 gold and 1 silver by 3 girls and two boys from Udalguri representaing India in the first ever international event of Wushu held in Colombo in Sri Lanka from April 16 to April 18.
