Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Operation CM for missing Khandu

Woman injured in police action in Imphal

Manipur police fired tear gas cells and lathi charged at the members of the JAC of Street Vendors, who were trying to take out a rally at Khwairanband Bazar at the heart of Imphal city on Friday, injuring one woman. A large number of women street vendors were gathered at Khwai Ima Keithel at 10: 30 a.m. to take out a rally against the decision of the state cabinet to shift them to Lamphel in Imphal West to carry their activities, which the street vendors claimed to be an improper place. Security forces busted KCP hideout near Imphal

A combined team of Imphal West commandos and personnel of 43 Assam Rifles on Friday busted a hideout of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) faction of Lamyanba Khuman and apprehended a hardcore cadre of the group after an encounter at Loupakthabi under Sekmai police station in Imphal West. Manpur police seized illegal drugs

Manipur police seized 300 SP capsules and 11 boxes of N 10 tablets from two individuals on April 16 at around 8 p.m. by Singjamei police , Imphal west from an autorickshaw in which they were travelling, police said today. Repolling in progress in 6 booths

Assam goes to repolling in thee assembly constituencies.Polling began at 6 booths from 8 in the morning on Monday in Bhawanipur, Rongia and Udalguri districts. Assamtime poll squad covering these booths see brisk polling where voters remaining lined up to cast their votes. The Election Commission has ordered repolling in these booths in view of major anomalies on April 11. The counting would take place on May 13.

7 Manipur Rifles jawans killed in ambush

Atleast 7 personnel of Manipur Rifles were killed and other 5 wounded on Friday when heavily armed insurgents suspected to be cadres of the NSCN(IM) ambused a convoy of Phungyar MLA Wunaoshang Keishing. MLA Keishing escaped the attack unhurt. The heavily armed insurgents opened fire on the MLA and his convoy while on there way at Rihang, Ukhrul district, Manipur. The MLA visited Phungyar district to participate at a function. The personnel who were killed in the attack include a post commander and a driver and the convoy belonged to 1st and 6th Manipur Rifles, according to police sources.
