The residents of Nagaon would get relief from irritating traffic Jams on the Nagaon- Bhuragaon road also known as Dhing Gate as the goverment has sanctioned 21 crores for a railway overbridge to be constructed there. The government has sanctioned Rs 21 Crores for the railway overbridge to be built on the railway crossing in Dhing Gate, Haibargaon. In a Press Conference at the Circuit House Nagaon, MLA Sadar Dr. Durluv Chamua said the demand for the overbridge was long pending and now the project has been sanctioned. The construction of overbridge needs to be completed in 18 months from the date of issue of the saction letter NO,280/2009-NLP(AS) issued on 22nd August 2012. Dr. Chamua also added that an amount of 19 crores is also sanctioned for drainage and roads. The tender process for the railway overbridge needs to be completed in three months.
The need of a railway overbridge at Dhing gate was long felt as it is a very busy area and a very critical transit point for commuters.
Six persons, including a pregnant woman, died in a tragic road mishap at Puranigudam in Nagaon district. The mishap took place in the afternoon where four died on-the-spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital. Seven other passengers, who sustained grievous injuries, have been admitted to Nagaon Civil Hospital.
The victims included the driver and the proprietor of the Tata Magic vehicle. The passengers were on their way to Jakhalabandha from Nagaon town in the same district. The incident took place when a passenger-carrying Tata Magic vehicle collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction at Kakhari village on the National Highway Number 37.
