SBI Community Service donates fans to schools at Raha
State Bank of India, has identified education is one of the thrust areas for the Bank under its Community Service Banking ( CSB ). Many of the Schools still lack basic infrastructures. In order to address this issue to some extent and to make a visible impact on the educational infrastructure, State Bank of India, Raha Branch has risen up to the occasion and distributed 5 ceiling fans to Bagariguri P.N. Tamuli High School, Raha Adarsh Sishu Vikash Kendra, Raha Sankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan, and Raha Senior Basic School each on the July 2 in commemoration of State Bank Day on July1.
The fans have been delivered to the head mistress and headmaster of the schools in a function organized at the school premises by Biswajyoti Bhattasarya, General Manager of Raha Branch in the presence of the Bank’s officials, teachers and students. The teachers and the students of all the schools have expressed their satisfaction while acknowledging the donations. The teachers and students have extended their gratitude to the bank authority for fulfilling their long felt wants.
In his speech , the bank manager stressed upon students to create a habit of saving and explained various schemes launched by the bank for higher studies for students and take bebefit of them. He also threw light on the importance of education.
It is to be mentioned that State Bank of India had provided fans to 12,000 schools in September 2011 coinciding with Teachers Day and water filters to 13,600 schools in March 2012, coinciding with World Water Day as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
It is expected by the conscious section of Raha town that State Bank of India, Raha branch will come up with some more social activities for the development of the downtrodden of the society.

Acting on a tip off , Raha police on Tuesday arrested one person for trying to extort Rs 8 lakh from one Kanak Nath of Sariohtoli village under Raha revenue circle. Tapan Das , Headmaster , Nelipar Primary School and a former leader of Raha unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) who actively participated in Assam agitation passed away at his house at Chaparmukh following prolonged illness on Tuesday. He was 54. A popular personality of the area, he was loved and respected by all sections of people for his amiable disposition. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. The body of a man was found on a train that arrived at Chaparmukh junction from Tinisukia on Sunday, police said. The body, found under mysterious condition, was identified as Kiranjyoti Hazarika of Philobari, Tinisukia district.
