Vishwanathan Anands contribution to putting India in the Chess Map is noteworthy. He is a true champion whose feats in the sports arena gets overshadowed by the India Cricket team whose only claim to fame at present seems to be controversy. Anand is also trying to contribute to the game by popularizing the game in every nook and corner of India. Recently he has started a Chess Academy in Agartala in association with National Institute of Information Technology. The academy was inaugurated by Anand and the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The minds Champions Academy will train students between 6-15 year of age and would cover 28 government schools in the state. A laudable effort indeed.
