Radha Kanta Handique memorial day celebrated at Jorhat
Radha Kanta Handique Day is celebrated by the Jorhat unit of Assam Sahitya Sabha at Radha Kanta Handique Memorial Bhawan on January 26. The evet was presided by Bhawa Kanta Goswami. In the event, it was decided to publish the “Indra Kanta Grammer” written by Radha Kanta Handique. Noted scholar Basanta Kumar Goswami was present in the event.

ULFA’s Paresh Baruah faction is fully prepared to strike in Assam despite heavy presence of security forces. A group of heavily armed ULFA militants has been moving in upper Assam.
These startling revelations surfaced during police interrogation on Robin Moran, who was captured during an encounter with police in Sivasagar district on Wednesday. Moran, the ULFA militant sustained bullet injury in the encounter along the Assam-Nagaland border. Three other militants managed to escape during the heavy exchange of firing with security forces. On the other hand, ULFA’s Paresh Baruah faction on Thursday alleged that the attack on the ULFA militants was a pre planned and that the security forces took away a huge amount of money from their possession. Notably, police on Wednesday claimed to have killed Moran in the encounter.

Two hardcore NDFB rebel was killed another captured at an encounter in Guwahati on Monday. According to information, the encounter took place at 2-30 in the afternoon at Moragaon area in Guwahati when police launched an operation in the area. The captured terrorist was injured and was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The deceased was identified as Bathan Narzary, a dreded sergeant majoe of the Bodo insurgent outfit. Two other cadres, however, managed to escape from the spot. The encounter took place when normal life came to a grinding halt on Monday as the 12 hour bandh call given by the outfit's Ranjan Daimary faction alleging the killing of altogether 56 NDFB rebels were killed by the police and security personel in the name of encounter in the state since the April 19 to July 19.

Untill the people of Madahi community come forward and promotes one's identitical surname. The development of the community in all spheres including the young generation would face identity crisis. This was observed by former President of All Assam Tribal Association Sarbeswar Madahi recently.
Addressing the open session of the first bi-annual conference of Udalguri district Madahi Association as chief guest Sarbeswar Madahi said " Madahis' are not a sub-group community of the Rabhas ,we are a tribal community with distinct ethnic identity."
He also thanked the state government alongwith BTC Chief Hagrama Mahillary for their join efforts which yielded the formation of Madahi Development Board on March 26 last. The session was presided by Anil Madahi President All Assam Madahi Association . Other distinguished guests present on the ocassion were Gaurishankar Das Secretary Udalguri Sahitya Sabha,Bipin Chandra Rabha etc.
