Maibang Degree College in bad shape
The conscious citizens of Maibang expressed serious concern over the inattentiveness of teachers including the principal of the Maibang Degree College to their regular duties. The Maibang Degree College, only institution of higher education in the entire Sub-Division and also the dream child of the founder principal Late B. Bodo has failed to retain its popularity and name and fame, people alleged.
It is alleged that most of the teachers used to pass their whole year out of college, except head of the political science and head of English department. They come to the college once in a month and sign in their whole attendance record register. Besides, the people of Maibang get chance once or twice to see the principal of the college in two to three months. The guardians and parents of the students of Maibang Degree College while drawing the attention of the Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council in charge, Education appealed to the authority concerned to take appropriate measures against the inattentive teachers of the Maibang Degree College so that the students are not deprived of their classes.

Hundreds of passengers traveling by the Up Agartala Express from Agartala to Lumding were stranded for several hours at Jatinga Railway Station in Dima Hasao following derailment of two bogies of the said train at about 5 am of Saturday. One Arjun Chowdhury aged 30 was seriously injured, when a group comprising six persons armed with ‘daw’ knife and stick entered the compartment No NFGS 2470 just next to the escort compartment of Down Agartala Express in the midnight of Wednesday to loot the passenger of the train near Migrengdisa Railway station. Chowdhury who tried to prevent the dacoit, they cut off his ear. He was later brought to the Haflong Civil Hospital.
