More big blow awaits ULFA

Another big blows await ULFA. More topguns with the proscribed outfit are ready to bid farewell to arms.

According to reliable sources here, as many as five top ranked ULFA cadres are in touch with the police and army to come over ground so that they can lay down arms before them soon.

Although the names of those ready to surrender have yet to be revealed, several of them in the pipeline include heavyweights with 79th Battalion besides the most wanted Hira Sarania.

The entire episode is reportedly gets a fillip with the arrest of Prabal Neog, the self styled commandant with the dreaded crack unit which is known to be staged-managed one. After his arrest, several cadres surrendered before police and army during the last few months.

On the other hand, several other militants have been killed during ambushed with army in some interior jungles of Arunachal Pradesh. The army intelligence have been using the revelations by the ULFA cadres apprehended during operations.

Notably, after the staged-managed arrest of Prabal Neog, two more dreaded militant leaders namely Ujjal Gohain and Pranjal Saikia laid down arms before the army.

Senior police and army officials are drawing up more strategies to boost the psychological war against the militant outfit which they hope will force them to come back to the national mainstream.

During his recent visit, new Army Chief staff Deepak Kapoor urged the militants to come eschew the path of violence and in the same breath warned of more teeth in the crackdown against them. Mr Kapoor further suggested a slew of strategies to make the operation against ULFA more effective.
