The United Liberation Front of Asom vertically splits finally. Self-styled commander-in-chief Paresh Barua has announced a new 16-member core committee leaving chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and his associates high and dry.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, publicity wing manager Arunoday Dahotiya, Dr Abhijit Barman would be the chairman of the outfit instead of the sitting one Arabinda Rajkhowa. Paresh Baruah, the military chief would be the acting vice chairman replacing Pradeep Gogoi.His deputies are Bijoy Chinese and Drishtri Rajkhowa. Dr Pranamoy Asom is foreign secretary while Arunodoy Dohotia retains publicity wing. Anup Chetia retains at general secretary post while Jiban Moran is the new finance secretary instead of Chitraban Hazarika.
Meanwhile, pro talk ULFA leader Mrinal Hazarika said the people of Assam would never accept the new committee and that Baruah will not be able run the outfit from Myanmar.
