A pall of gloom descends in Amguri area in Sivasagar district when a local villager was believed to have been crushed to death by train on Monday.
Identified as Rongai Bora, the body of the carpenter by profession in Cheleng Kumargaon was found on the railway tracts in the morning. But how and when the incident took place is not known.
A villager was killed and another minor boy sustained injury when security forces guarding the NHPC project resorted to firing in Lakhimpur district on Sunday
The incident took place in the evening where identified as Madan Sarma, the local villager was shot dead while a minor boy identifiedas Imran Hussain sustained injury.
Imran later was shifted to the Lakhimpur Civil hospital for treatment. Details awaited.
The dissident Congress ministers and MLAs have again served 10 days ultimatum to the party leadership to hold CLP meeting to discuss the poll debacle.
After the end of an emergency meeting of the dissident camp at the official residence of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the health minister said that the impasse in the political front should be addressed by the chief minister himself.
He, however, said that they would formaly send the memorandum to the party high command on Monday. Altogether 41 dissident MLAs and ministers attended the meeting followed by a feast on Sunday evening.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday evoked sharp criticism a day after Hamren SP Nityanand Goswami and his PSO Ratul Nunisa were killed at an encounter in Karbi Anglong district.
Talking to reporters, a cross section of the people came down heavily on Gogoi for refusing to quite to pave the way for a new one to take over.Goswami’s family members alleged that the PSOs have handed over Nityananda to the militants.
AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal said that Gogoi should immediately resign owning moral responsibilities . BJP also sharply criticized Gogoi for not resgning after his failure to deal with the situation.
Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju on Saturday asked chief minister Tarun Gogoi to strengthen the law and order machinery to ensure that militants are not allowed to monger any trouble.
Talking to reporters after his stock-taking meet with chief minister Tarun Gogoi in Dispur, Rijiju said that militant activities should not be tolerated and that Assam’s law and order break down would send a bad message from the north eastern region.
He said that the Centre would provide all assistance to the state government to deal with the situation.
Apart from the chief minister Gogoi, DGP Khagen Sarma and chief secretary JS Khusla were present in the meeting.

The mortal remains of Hamen SP Nityananda Goswami and his PSO consigned to flames in Guwahati on Saturday two days after the duo were killed in encounter with UPLA in Karbi Anglong.
After post mortem formalities, the lifeless duo were brought to the Fourth APBn headuarters in Guwahati where chief minister Tarun Gogoi and union home minister Kiren Rijiju paid their last respect along with other top ranked police and civil officials.
The duo were taken to the Nabagrha funeral ground for last rites with full state honour.
Over 300 people travelling at the Rajdhani Express had a narrow escape when their coach caught fire on Saturday.
The incident took place at the Rajdhani Express down in the morning. Passengers in the Coach No 7 suddenly came to notice smokes bellowing inside the coach as soon as the train arrived in Sarupeta station at around 6 in the morning.
When the passengers brought it to the notice of the officials, the train was halted and the entire coach was vacated.
The fire, which was extinguished within half and hour, was believed to have erupted because of technical snags.

At least 20 people incuding 2 minor boys have been undergoing treatment of food poisioning in Sivasagar district on Friday.
The incident took place at Charing where these people fell ill minutes after they consumed curd at function on Thurday.
According to the villagers, these people started vomitting hours after they consumed curd with beaten rice they were served at a ritual function in the Khamun Gaon.
All they were rushed to the Sivasagar Civil Hospital where they have been undergoing treatment.
