Friends looking for writers

To succeed in this competitive global environment, every student needs to have high motivation, ambition and perseverance to face the various challenges that they face. To do so, they require lot of positive attitude and inspiration from peers. Parents in this age are looking for resources, books and journals that would inspire their children to have ambition and a global outlook to excel in their chosen field of study.


The magazine Friends is a sincere effort by the Non residents of Assam towards the upliftment of the Students and youths of the North East India. It contains articles on career guidance, education, travel and tourism, volunteering and Social entrepreneurism. Chief Editor Mr. Ankur Bora from Dallas, Texas, USA sincerely desires that students and the youth of the North East India will benefit from this journal as the motto of this journal is –To inform, to inspire and to instill. It is also expected that the parents will gift this magazine to their children as a valuable resource for career development and for their future personal and professional growth.

Patharkandi: An uneasy situation is prevailing in Pathorkandhi when a trader allegedly raped a minor girl on Friday. COVID-19 patients gone down to 21

Guwahati: Amid the country wide lockdown Assam has reasons to heave a sigh of relief as the figure of COVID-19 patients has come down to 21 from 34 on Saturday. Three more patients were discharged from 2 different hospitals on Saturday after they received confirmation of recovery from the virus that has killed millions of people across the globe. Guwahati: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses its profound grief at the untimely demise of senior sports journalist Pranjal Hazarika, who breathed his last today (13 April 2020) morning in Jorhat. Hill College goes on-line for teaching-learning, research

For almost 3 weeks now, Salesian College Sonada and its Siliguri Campus have been using on-line facility for teaching-learning as well as research. An on-line Longitudinal Study on the Attitudinal Changes to the Covid -19 lockdown both for students and faculty is into its 3rd week. Hail storm hits state hard

GUWAHATI: A huge hailstorm accompanied by thunder and lightening on Thursday night heavily disrupted normal lives in many parts of the state on Friday. The storm started lashing the capital city of Guwhati  at around 9-30 in the evening where roads were submerged with rainwaters. In the lower Assam districts of Goalpara, Barpeta also the stormed disrupted the surface communication. COVID19 patient dead in Silchar

Silchar: The state registered the loss of it's first COVID19 patient when Faizul Islam Borbhuyan passed away at the Silchar Medical College Hospital on Friday. Borbhuyan, the 28th patient COVID 19 patient, who was around 65 years of age,  shown some strange symptoms and was rushed to SMCH a couple of years back from Hailakandi. According to health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he died in the week hours since he was having some breathing problem since he was admitted to the hospital.  Notably as many as 24 patients who have tested negative a number of times might be released on Friday or Saturday.
