Wi-Fi Internet Service in Press Club premises

The Wi-Fi internet service will be available for journalists Monday onwards in Guwahati Press Club. The specific service, offered by Java Internet, will be launched on on June 6. The member-journalists can use the facility free of cost any day. This wireless service will also be available in all laptops taken inside the press club premises.

Community college mooted in NE University

A northeast India based technical university has mooted for a community college to impart skill development courses to youths of the region with an aim to improve professional skills and employability. The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has taken the initiative to launch the program under ‘Skill Youth- Skill India’ mission. “Under the programme, short term certificate & diploma courses will be conducted to train youths in various job oriented skill development initiatives in various schools of USTM. Journalist Hiten Mahanta dead

Senior journalist Hiten Mahanta passed away on Saturday at GNRC (six mile) hospital. The end came at 7.25 in the morning at GNRC Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.Mahanta suffered multiple head injuries as he fell on the road on the morning hours of August 5 at his home locality of Chunchali in the city. He was immediately admitted to the hospital and his condition continued to be critical.Born in 1957, Mahanta completed his education in Guwahati. Senior journalist Hiten Mahanta paased away on Saturday at GNRC (six mile) hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on August 5 and continued to be critical. His last came on 7.30 am of 29 August 2015. Mahanta left behind his wife, two sons and host of relative & well-wishers.Media pepole acrsos the state deeply mourned his premature death and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
