The United Liberation Front of Assam has given a private petroleum 45 days ultimatum to quit Assam. In an e-mail statement, ULFA publicity wing leader Arunodoy Dohotia alleged that the Shivani Oil and Gas Exploration Services Private Limited must quit Assam by one and a half month. He alleged that the private oil exploration company has been exploiting Assam's fabulous natural resources safeguarded by the Union Government. Dohotia further threaten armed action against the private oil company if it fails to quit Assam.

Mama/ Senior ULFA leader Bhimkanta Burhagohain said that C-in-C Paresh Barua is not oppose talk with the government and will not do it in future. Talking to reporters at the Tezpur court premises on Tuesday, Bhimkanta alias Mama said the final and formal decision on talk would be taken by the outfit's general council.
Eminent social worker Hena Bora will attend the Guest of the Month programme of Guwahati Press Club on June 25. The programme will begin at 12 noon. A delegation of Sanmilita Jatiya Abhibartan led by Dr Hiren Gohain on Wednesday received positive signal in terms of holding talk with ULFA through dialogue. The Congress president flashed her green signal as the delegation met her at her 10th Janapath residence. Talking to reporters, the delegation leader and critic Dr Gohain said Gandhi was positive for an amicable settlement of the insurgency problem in Assam. The delegation is scheduled to meet Union home minister P Chidambaram at 4-30 in the evening.
The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the multicrore scam in the NC Hills of Tuesday failed to get remand of the accused RH Khan as he was not produced before the special court. According to information, the authorities at the Guwahati central jail did not take the suspended social welfare officer to the court citing health ground certified by a panel of doctors. The court has asked teh jail authorities to produce Khan before the court on June 28.
There seems to be an end to the decade-old deadlock over the ULFA-government talk. The encouraging development surfaces as prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh shows keen desire to hold talk with ULFA when a delegation of the statr's civil society called on him on Monday evening.

Noted academician and critic Dr Hiren Gohain said ULFA C-in-C Paresh Barua can't alone oppose talk with Government. Talking to reporters in Delhi on Monday Dr Gohain said Barua has no right to impose a decision on talk and that it for central body to take the final decision where he is a member.
PM's date with Dr Hiren Gohain led SJA delegation ended on a positive note on Monday. According to Dr Gohain, the prime minister is very positive and that he was keen to solve the Ulfa problem. He said the government must release the Jailed leaders to help them take a formal decision.

According to sources, the talk is scheduled at 6-45 in the evening. Earlier, led by Dr Hiren Gohain the delegation was scheduled to meet the PM at 10-30 in the morning. But it was re-scheduled. Addressing a press meet in Delhi, Dr Gohain said ULFA wans to talk to the government which they came to know only after they met a few top leaders inside the jail. He said a considerable section of ULFA wants a negotiated settlement of the problems ravaging Assam for decades.
