ULFA serves quit Assam notice to private oil co

The United Liberation Front of Assam has given a private petroleum 45 days ultimatum to quit Assam. In an e-mail statement, ULFA publicity wing leader Arunodoy Dohotia alleged that the Shivani Oil and Gas Exploration Services Private Limited must quit Assam by one and a half month. He alleged that the private oil exploration company has been exploiting Assam's fabulous natural resources safeguarded by the Union Government. Dohotia further threaten armed action against the private oil company if it fails to quit Assam.

Can the ULFA send Quit Assam notice to Bangladeshis???? Tell us ULFA publicity wing leader Arunodoy Dohotia...can you threaten armed action against the Bangladeshis capturing 20 districts of Assam?

Patnaik lauds peace process with insurgent groups

Assam governor JB Patnaik said that the state has made notable progress in the restoration of peace in the state. Crucial budget session begins

Assam governor Janki Ballav Patnaik has opened the one month long budget session on Thursday. The session will have 15 working days. During the session, the budget is scheduled to be passed on March 28. The crucial Bills would be introduced in between March 1 and 16. SC to decide on fate of Mahendra Das

The Supreme Court is expected to decide on the fate of death convict Mahendra Das on Thursday. Assam Assembly begins budget session

4 ULFA men arrested in Sivasagar

Sivasagar police have arrested 3 pro talk ULFA cadres on extortion charges in the hear of the town. Identified as Ashim Bora alias Pankaj Gogoi, Mukul Saikia and Jiten Gohain, they were arrested when they were on the way to extort money from a businessman at the Rong ghar Chariali. They allegedly served a notice to a businessman demanding Rs 20,0000 in cash in the name of Jiban Moran.

Grenade explosion in Guwahati

At least five people sustained injury when suspected ULFA exploded a powerful grenade in Guwahati on Tuesday. The incident took place in front of the Assam state BJP office in the busy Zoo Road at around 6-10 in the evening. According to eyewitness, the grenade was hurled from inside a Tata Sawari leaving at least two persons injured who were rushed to the GMCH. The injured people include a auto driver and a taxi driver. Top ranked police and civil officials have arrived in the spot and apprehended it an ULFA handi work.

All Women Health Check-up Camp at Press Club

The city based NEMCARE Hospital in association with Guwahati Press Club has organized an all women health check-up camp on March 4 next. The health camp will start at 10 am and continue till 2 pm. Organized on the eve of International Women's Day (March 8), the camp will be conducted by a group of lady doctors of the hospital. The basic objective behind the camp is to bring all women journalists and wives of working journalists for an exclusive health check up for gynecological and other related problems of women. The lady journalists and spouses of working journalists are requested to participate in the camp.
