voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Fresh trouble for Rio as NPP withdraws support

KOHIMA: Fresh trouble brews for Neiphu Rio a day before the swearing in ceremony. In a high voltage drama  on Wednesday evening National Peoples Party has withdrawn support to the NDPP led coalition. In a letter to governor PB Acharya, Nagaland NPP president Ato Yepthomi urged him not to consider the earlier letter of support since there was no consent from the party high command.NPP earlier promised with go with NDPP-BJP alliance with two of their MLAs. With this, Rio falls short of two MLAs to touch the magic number a day before the swearing in ceremony.

AMSU condemns BTAD violence

Kokrajhar: A delegation team of All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU)  led by its secretary Rejaul Karim Sarkar visited Safiur Rahman at RNB Civil Hospital a day after he sustained burn injury during BTAD bandh. After the visit, Safiur Rahman was referred to Guwahati Medical Hospital for better treatment.  The AAMSU delegation condemned the violence during the bandh which created resentment among the citizens and Rejaul alleged that there is no adequate facility at the hospital. Arms seized in Baksa, 2 quizzed

Kokrajhar: Despite counter insurgency operations, arms smuggling refuses to die down in BTAD areas. The Baksa police recovered two AK -47 riffles, live bullets and detained two-persons at Kataligaon near Mushalpur on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, the police launched a search operation in  Kataligaon where two AK 47 riffles were  dug out from the residential complex of Arun Rachiary.The police recovered two magazines and several rounds of live bullets along with the rifle. Led by Pabitra Kalita, officer in-charge of Mushalpur police station, the team detained Arun Ramchiary  and his associate Swmbwr Boro for interrogation.

GUWAHATI: Hundreds of people joined a CPI sponsored procession in Guwahati streets on Wednesday in protest against the demolition of two Lenin statues in Tripura after BJP-IPFT alliance decimated the Left Front in the recent polls. Rio taking oath as Nagaland CM today

KOHIMA: NDPP president Neiphu Rio is taking oath as new Nagaland Chief minister on Thursday. Governor PB Acharya is administering Rio and his council of ministers the oath of office secrecy at the Raj Bhawan where Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju along with several central leaders are expected to present. Acharya, in a letter to the chief minister designate to prove his majority on the floor on or before March 16. The Raj Bhawan sent the letter to Rio on Tuesday minutes after TR Zeliang put in his papers as chief minister paving the way for forming a new government.

KOHIMA:Three days after NPF fell short of majority and after BJP dumping the regional party, TR Zeliang resigned as Nagaland chief minister on Tuesday. Violence erupts in BTAD during bandh

KOKRAJHAR: A least a dozen of people, mostly, drivers sustained injuries when an orgy of violence erupted during the 24 hours BTAD bandh call by a few non Bodo organizations on Tuesday opposing the land rights policy of the Boroland Territorial Council. Bandh supporters in many places turned violence and set afire a few vehicles to enforced the bandh call.
