Biplab Deb to be Tripura CM


AGARTALA: Biplab Kumar Deb will be the Chief minister of Tripura after his party wrested power from CPM in the recent assembly polls.

Central BJP leader and Union minister Nitin Gadkari announced the name in Agartala after the new legislatures met on Tuesday where Deb was unanimously named as legislative body leader. Jishnu Deb Burman will be the deputy chief minister in the new council of ministers.

Governor Tathagata Roy will administer Deb and his council of ministers the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhawan on Friday morning where prime minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah along Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya chief ministers are expected attend.
