ULFA chief moves court with bail plea

ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa has moved a local TADA court in Guwahati seeking bail in connection with six cases pending against him. It will not be so difficult for Rajkhowa to procure bail in view of Dispur's decision not to oppose the bail petitions of these top ULFA leaders. Rajkhowa was produced before the court on Monday as he was moved the petitions. He moved the TADA ciurt a day after political adviser Bhimkanta Buragohain was released on bail. Rakhowa will be sixth one top ULFA leaders to be released on bail which will be a final steps to ensure talks with the government. Others include deputy commander in chief Raju Baruah, Pranati Deka, Pradeep Gogoi, Mithinga Daimary and Ramu Mech.

In yet another development, ULFA's 109 battalion has supported the proposed peace talks with the government. In an e-mail statement on Monday, 109 battalion commander Gulit Kalita said they would go with the central leadership.
