Guwahati Topper In Maharishi National Cultural Celebration
The students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School (MVMSSS), Silpukhuri, Guwahati shines in the Maharishi National Cultural Celebration, 2010 held at Hyderabad from October 22-24.
The students of MVMSSS win the First prize in the event of Classical Orchestra Mixed, G. K. Quiz Senior, Mathematics Exhibition Senior and Vocal Semi Classical Junior.
Moreover, the students of Guwahati Zone of MVM win 12 nos. of prizes out of 19 events. Over All Championship Trophy also given to Guwahati Zone of MVM. Ekta Saikia and Maitry Phukan honored as Best Student in the Maharishi National Cultural Celebration, 2010. The participating students reach Guwahati today by train and greeted by many citizens, including educationists.

The Assam government has urged the Centre to support the cold-chain development project in Assam for the benefit of farmers and consumers. Union Tourism Secretary Pervez Dewan has asked the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to remove a line in the class 10 geography textbooks that tells that tourism has not been encouraged in the north-east and interior parts of the Himalayas for “strategic reasons”. The Secretary has informed the petitioner Kavya Barnadhya Hazarika, a Class XI student at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior School, Guwahati, that he had requested NCERT to remove the “careless sentence”.
