Forest Award for Best Agro-forestry activities


To encourage and to create awareness among the people about the forestry and its conservation throughout the district, the forest department will reward individual, village and Joint Forest Management Committee during Independence Day celebration at Haflong.


There will be three categories like the best individual tree plantation award, the best Agro forestry practice village award and the best JFMC award. The prizes will carry a certificates of recognition and cash of rupees ten thousand for the best Agro forestry practice village award and the best JFMC award each and rupees six thousand for the best individual tree plantation award.


Talking to this correspondent, Sri Bikash Brahma, Conservator of Forest disclosed that the people of Dima Hasao of late realized the importance of forestry and an atmosphere of forest management and conservation is prevailing particularly among the rural people. Hundreds of people from far flung areas of the district always approach the forest department for various advice and assistance regarding tree plantation and its conservation.


Sri Brahma said a selection committee was formed with M.C.Kalita, DFO as President, Sri T. Saikia, DFO and Sri B. C. Langthasa, DCF as Member secretaries for selecting awardees.

I am from Assam Silchar, Tree plantation is so much important for our state & country also because, it's weather condition is getting worst and we have to protect our environment, so I think every body have to plant tree evry day, all ovar the country. Thank you..........

Acting on a tip off, Haflong police nabbed two cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) from Mahur, 35 KM from Haflong on Monday. Following repeated interrogation of these cadres one AK Riffle, two magazine and 58 rounds of ammunition were recovered from one Lunjahao Lienthang of Numjang village under Mahur police station. Both the cadres identified as Thancha Khingsai, 27 of Changpijang under Mahur PS and Lansen Kuki, 25 of Mulkon under Maibang police station were brought to Haflong Police station for further interrogation.
