Indefinite Dima Hasao district bandh from July 4

Demanding immediate release of Jowel Gorlosa, Chairman, DHD (J) and Niranjan Hojai, C-in-C, the Dima Halam Daogah (Jowel) has given an indefinite Dima Hasao District Bandh from July 4 morning till the release of both the leaders.

Talking to this correspondent Phaiprang Dimasa former Information & Publicity Secretary expressed serious concern over the Government’s negligence towards the DHD (J)’s demand though they have shunned violence and surrendered arms before the Chief Minister of Assam on October 2nd last year for peace. He argued why the government was detaining their leaders. He also warned the government they may go for violence if their leaders were not freed immediately. He said absence of their leaders the move for the peace process was being delayed and disturbed. He also asked why their demand cannot be solved since they have been demanding state within the state.

The ASDC and Dimasa Students’ Union states arrest of Niranjan Hojai may invite derailment of peace in Dima Hasao district.
