Noted Scientist, Science Writer, Former V C , Dibrugarh University Dr. Kulendu Pathak formally released the 1st issue of 44th Volume of 'Bijnan Jeuti' in function held at Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, Guwahati on 5th June, 2009 on the occasion of World Environment Day. Ranjit Narayan Deka, Rector of Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya and Mowsam Hazarika, Editor of 'Bijnan Jeuti' also present on the occasion.It may be mention that ,Assam Science Society is one of the nationally recognized organizations that has played a pioneering role in increasing the interaction of people with science and in creating scientific temper amongst the different sections of the society specially the school and college students of Assam.
The Society has also been playing a pivotal and pioneering role in making the Assamese language a vehicle of scientific knowledge and communication. To serve the above purpose the Society has regularly been publishing the Assamese bimonthly science magazine (6 issues in a year) entitled BIJNAN JEUTI since 1961 for the benefit of the school and college students as well as teachers, educationists and technologists of Assam and also the general masses. This popular science magazine has been able to create a group of popular science writers in Assam, who regularly contribute in various journals and news papers in the state and outside. Almost every year, the Society publishes some special issues of the magazine on matters of topical interest like environment, health, agriculture etc.
After immense success in the previous Agri-Horticultural Shows, the Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture & Food Processing, Government of Assam along with the Assam Agricultural University and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) got together once again to organize the 4th Assam International Agri-Horticultural Show 2017 from January 6-9, 2017 at the Khanapara Field. The Assam International Agri-Horticultural Show is an exposition for innovation and inspiration in agriculture, horticulture, food processing, floriculture and allied sectors.
