Bijnan Jeuti in new form

Noted Scientist, Science Writer, Former V C , Dibrugarh University Dr. Kulendu Pathak formally released the 1st issue of 44th Volume of 'Bijnan Jeuti' in function held at Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, Guwahati on 5th June, 2009 on the occasion of World Environment Day. Ranjit Narayan Deka, Rector of Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya and Mowsam Hazarika, Editor of 'Bijnan Jeuti' also present on the occasion.It may be mention that ,Assam Science Society is one of the nationally recognized organizations that has played a pioneering role in increasing the interaction of people with science and in creating scientific temper amongst the different sections of the society specially the school and college students of Assam.

The Society has also been playing a pivotal and pioneering role in making the Assamese language a vehicle of scientific knowledge and communication. To serve the above purpose the Society has regularly been publishing the Assamese bimonthly science magazine (6 issues in a year) entitled BIJNAN JEUTI since 1961 for the benefit of the school and college students as well as teachers, educationists and technologists of Assam and also the general masses. This popular science magazine has been able to create a group of popular science writers in Assam, who regularly contribute in various journals and news papers in the state and outside. Almost every year, the Society publishes some special issues of the magazine on matters of topical interest like environment, health, agriculture etc.

"Music contributes to the quality of life"- considering this theme 100 musicians of SONG INTERNATIONAL, Guwahati organised Grand Orchestra at Rabindra Bhawan on April 30 under the guidance of Ray Dorius.
