Mid April the major festival of composite Assamese society the Rongali Bihu begins, this also brings exuberance to the youths even to the aged and kids. As Assam and the Assamese people are gearing up with the preparation of Bihu; UB Photos – a premier news photo agency of North East India came out with full length commercial Bihu Video CD “Jaan Oi Zowan Doi” to be part of this gala celebration this year. The artists and producers released the VCD yesterday in a ceremony in UB Photos premises.
Speaking on the sidelines of the release Chief Photo Editor and Proprietor UB Photos Utpal Baruah outlined how and why UB Photos conceptualized on making of a Video Cd though it was a established name in still photography. Baruah reasoned that with visual media and editing set up being established in UB Photos; we tried to give a click with all freshmen in the technical setup. Directed by young director Kumar Sanjay Sarkar and freshman cameraperson Utpal Kalita the VCD is of standard quality. Most of composition through out the VCD has been given a second thought that is how the entire film becomes a good watching stuff. The fresh visual editor of UB Photos Pranab Bhuyan have done a wonderful job as well with sequence order, sound mixing and other editing activities. The entire UB Photos team has worked heart and soul to present a fabulous gift to the people of Assam this Rongali Bihu.

During the release ceremony Dipankar Dutta, President CEC praised the efforts of all members of UB Photos and the film unit for their untiring effort behind the VCD. A major explosion was averted beside a theatre show when army recovered a powerful bomb in front of the West Goalpara College on Wednesday morning. According to information, having seen some suspicious materials inside a basket, local residents informed it to Army's No 3 Sikh Regiment who recovered it in the wee hours and took it away to a safe place. Immediately after it, the bomb left off this morning before it was defused. Investigation is on. It is believed that the bomb was targeted at the audience of the theatre which was running till on Wednesday morning.

It is really a matter of shame that the culprits who are involved in the rape against two indigenous ladies in the Udalguri district are yet to be arrested. Civil Society organisations in different parts of Assam have demanded for the arrests of the culprits and provide justice to the victims. A devastating fire that broke out in Guwahati’s Machkhowa area on Sunday evening has reduced over 100 houses to ashes with properties worth lakhs of rupees burnt to black coal. The incident took place at Kolgoli area at around 6-30 in the evening. Immediate cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. Minutes after fire broke out inside a small house, it took a devastating turn and engulfed adjacent houses. There were sounds of blasts of LPG cylinders heard in the area. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot but by then over 100 houses had already been reduced to ashes. Over 500 people have been left homeless. Fire tenders are till working to bring the situation under control.
ULFA has lost one more cadre of its 709th battalion. According to information, hardcore cadre Tapan Roy was killed during a joint operation by army and police at Belguri in Kokrajhar district of west Assam on Friday. He was known to be from the fatal 709th battalion. An AK series rifle, a magazine and some live ammunition have also been recovered from his possession.

Three persons died and over 50 have been injured when a powerful bomb exploded at a passenger train in Diphu Railway station early in the morning on Tuesday.
According to information, the blast took place at the 901 Lumding-Tinsukia UP train. The time device bomb was planted inside the Coach No 8209. One person died on the spot and the injured have been shifted to the Diphu civil hospital. Immediately after the incident, police arrived on the spot. Investigation is on. The blast is suspected to be a handiwork of KLNLF.
