Though congress is beating doll-drums about their field in Barpeta parliamentary constituency, in realty the whole areas devoid of any such activities. There has been no upliftment of the constituency as a whole and the minorities in particular. Though the Congress party which forges alliance with the BPF claims its role in the development of the minorities, it has done nothing in practical. Even it has failed in providing rehabilitation to the riot hit people in the BTC during several occasions. Hence it becomes clear that this time in the ensuing LS election there is a plus point for the AGP nominee supported by BJP claimed Liyakat Ali Khan,MLA, Chenga and secy AGP dist. committee here in a meeting of the formation of the AGP-BJP election joint committee.
Khan also commented that there is hardly any difference between the current cong. Barpeta MP AF Golam Osmani and then current cong. nominee Ismile Hussain respectively.It is a matter of regret that Golam Osmani who turned his back to the problems of the people of Barpeta constituency after becoming the MP during his tenure,in the same way Ismile Hussain also did little for the development of Barpeta while he was an MLA and minister eight years back.
In that meeting AGP nominee Bhupen Roy said that the minority people of Barpeta constituency are disillusioned by the false assurances of congress. And this time it becomes sure that they are sure to cast negative votes against it. He claimed that he would become the winner by securing votes of all section of then voters irrespective of cast,creed and religion.
Ranjit Kr das, State president, BJP, Kisan Marcha reiterated his party's commitment to take every possible step fore the success of the AGP nominees.
The meeting held in the district AGP office represented by five district committees of both the parties constituted an election committee with MP Kumar Deepak Das (AGP), as president , Ranjit Kr Das (BJP) as Working president, Gunindra Nath Das (AGP), Naba Kr. Das(BJP), Dineswar Das (BJP) and Bijoy Sinha(AGP) as secretaries.
