Bulti Roy: Will she get justice?
It is beyond imagination for one how a teacher threw off the future of his own student until one meets Bulti.
Bulti Roy, a 17 year old girl from Dighliati village under Roha police station was going to appear this year’s High School Leaving Certificate Exam from her school Gita Devi Hansaria Kanya Vidyalaya but failed to appear as the Headmaster of her school betrayed her.
The Headmaster Bhagavaan Tamuli even after taking the requied exam fees from Bulti failed to provide her the Admit Card for which she could not sit in the exam.
Bulti said to this correspondent, ‘I went to Sir several times,as soon as my friends received the Admit cards, and asked him about my Admit Card. But each time he said that my Card had not been sent from the SEBA office till then and he was trying to manage one for me. I listened to Sir and trusted him. On February 19 I went to Sir again and asked for my Card but Sir told me that he would give me the Card in the exam hall in the next day.The next day while I was waiting outside the school gate I came to know that Tamuli sir pocketed my money Rs 650 which he took from me as Form filled up fees. When I came to know this I questened Sir and wept as the exam began and I was not allowed to sit in the exam. Later Sir gave me another admit card on which a name ‘Baby Das’ was written. Sir advised me to sit in the exam as Baby Das and suggested me not to tell anyone about this. I could not do so. And I came to know that Baby Das got married and she left her Admit card with Sir which he provided me later.’ With tears in her eyes Bulti further said, ‘We are very poor and my parents had no courage to go against Sir as he threatened us to death.’ Soon the room was filled up with the sound of weeping as everyone in Bulti’s family started weeping blaming their fates.
Leaving Bulti’s home while this correspondent approached to the Headmaster Bhagavaan Tamuli, the latter misbehaved this correspondent and remained silent.
It is worth mentioning here that Assam Times is the only newspaper which comes forward to listen to Bulti’s story even after having many local scribes in the Bulti’s locality.

A local farmer in Raha rescued a python weighing 10 kg and measuring 8 feet on Friday much to the delight of the animal activists in the entire area. Local residents told Assam Times that the farmer caught the python at Dighaldori village after he spotted it near a water body in the morning hours. Then he tried to save it reptile and trapped it with the help of a fishing tool made of bamboo. Police in Raha are looking for the miscreants who stole several computers from a school on Sunday night. The search started this morning when Jongal Bolohugarh High School authorities lodged a complaint with the police.The miscreants broke the doors of the school and lifted several computers on Sunday night. The computers were received a few years back under the Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme.
The 12 hour Tiwa bandh ended paralyzing normal life on Monday. Called by the All Tiwa Students Union along with five other organizations, the bandh was by and large peaceful in Raha and its adjoining areas Dharamtul, Ahatguri, Barapujia, Phulaguri, and Demow.Roads remained deserted. Shops and markets, schools and colleges, banks and officers remained closed for the day following the band call bandh demanding Sixth Schedule status to the Tiwa-dominated areas.
